A measure mandating a P2,000 across-the-board increase in the monthly pensions of Social Security System (SSS) beneficiaries has finally been approved by the House of Representatives on third and final reading. 

Leaders of the House of Representatives belonging to the National Unity Party (NUP) have threatened to block plans by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to switch to a “hybrid” or a mixed manual-and-automated election system next year. 

The House of Representatives has finally approved and endorsed to the Senate a measure that would ban all forms of hazing activities of fraternities and other similar organizations.

A bill establishing Marine Protected Areas and ensuring the participation of communities in maintaining them has been reported out for plenary deliberations by the Committees on Aquaculture and Fisheries Resources and the Committee on Appropriations of the House of Representatives. 

A measure preventing the commercialization of student athletes and shielding  them from unfair residency requirements and penalties will soon become a law.
