A  lady lawmaker is pushing the  establishment of a National Cancer Authority in the Philippines to help raise the prevention rate for cancer, which is the third leading cause of death in the country.

Davao del Norte Representative Antonio Lagdameo Jr. has proposed the establishment of a Philippine National Banana Research Center to help  generate more fruits-for-exports revenues for the government and raise the incomes of small banana growers.

Partylist lawmakers Christopher Co and Rodel Batocabe of AKO Bicol want to bar lower courts from issuing temporary restraining orders (TROs) and other similar directives which prejudice the enforcement of the country’s environmental laws. 

Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. has assured the visiting delegation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) that the House of Representatives would continue with and “give due importance to”  its deliberations on the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) when the Congress resumes session on May 4, 2015. 

Leaders of the National Unity Party (NUP) have cautioned the Commission on Elections  (Comelec) against plans to revert to manual counting in the 2016 national elections, pointing out that such a move would violate existing laws.
